ETec oil

Hi
whats the oil consumption like on the etec ?? I am dropping the suzuki idea after dealer location problems and the etec seems a good engine I am looking 225/250 size bands but dealers have been no use when pressed on how much liquid gold they drink!! can anyone shed some light on this for me please?

It's great, I was told when I bought it, even with very regular use that I'd be lucky to go through a bottle (us gallon i think) in a season. So far I've done a few hundred miles on it, the resivoir is full and I've still got 1/3 bottle left. It does use more at first when it's running itself in, also uses a bit extra when you run it's winterise cycle.

A guess... 0,75-1,5% oil average consumtion. Depense on boat, speed etc

Old 2-stroke 2% and Yam from -84? 1%...

My Suzuki DT225 has used about 2.5 litres so far - that includes bringing it back from Guernsey to Weymouth and quite a few trips. As the Suzuki runs at 50:1 the ETEC will be much better.

There was a post last year on the oil use thing
I think it was 2 stoke V four stroke thing, the guys from Norway had figures
on oil per mile etc. worth taking the time to do the search
