I might be missing something obvious (not unusual!) but why would an Osprey boat with an Evinrude engine have a Volvo fuel filter...?

I can't answer that question, but mine does, and that was built completely by Steve and Roy in exactly the same place as yours was I also seem to remember a line of them on a shelf at Mannings although I may be wrong!

Secondly, doesn't the etec have a built in backup one anyway?

I don't know as I haven't seen my boat yet but two fuel filters is better than one

Where is the Volvo filter in yours located? I did wonder that as I don't think it would fit in the transom box and in the console it might be a bugger of a place to change it without sloshing fuel everywhere... hopefully there will be a drain point on the bottom of the filters to let out a 'sample' or any droplets of water in the bottom?

My old Humber just had the water separator bolted on the front face of the transom but then it was built to a slightly more 'basic' standard

We've got the searider console and the f/w separator is set "around the corner" to the left. The access hatch is on the front and it is set on the same surface as that. I reckon that yours will be located adjacent to where your fuel filler cap is, wherever that may be on your different console.

The best solution the the problem you mention (emptying out the water) that I've seen was on Bedajim's boat. He's got it mounted to the A-frame on one side, but it is one with a second available pickup, i.e. if the main engine fails and you're so far from home that the aux's fuel runs out, there is no need to bodge together a siphon pump, you simply attach a line to the fuel filter's second take off. His also has a see through area so you can see how much water there is, our's is all metal like this:

I'm considering to replace my Suzuki DT65 (1998), with an E-tec 90HP (2006). The seller claims the engine has been runnning less than 100 hours and is in perfect condition.

Is this "a year of eletrical problems" (2006) ?
Should i be aware of anything in particular on the 90HP ?

In DK the price for a new engine is 9400 pounds / 11400 euro.
The price for the used engine is 4745 pounds / 5775 euro.

How does that sound ?

of course i can try the engine on his boat before buying it.

Does the mounting holes fit with the ones from my Suzuki ?

Is the new price a quote from a dealer or a List price? If it's a dealer quoted price, then the used price may not be too bad.

It is hard to know what is a good Danish price - we know what you pay for beer!

I would ask the owner for a current engine report - they are easy to do if he has access to the software, that will show the exact hours and much more info also.

Ask for an engine report & post it here for us to take a look at.
The mounting holes on the Etec are standard ABC so they should match.

hi folks i am greginoz and this is my first thread as you call em
well we are the very proud and happy owners of a 2009 130hp etec
its bolted to a 5.2mtr fibre glass half cab we havent had any problems
as yet (touch wood) we mainly use the boat for fishing upto 20 miles offshore
for pelagic species ie: tuna wahoo sailfish marlin or inshore waters and bays for
the usual bottom / reef dwellers ie: snapper (last one 8.2kg and magic to eat)
king george whitting another delight on the taste buds and the bottom of the
ladder the fish that will always remind you of your mother inlaw (the flat head)
anyway i have to go now her indoors is calling ,so bye for now.
