why specificly a Ficht?

I would guess they're going to be a tad difficult to find.

Not with the Power heads specific.

Pre 2003 (BRP) models had a few major problems one of the major ones being a lack of cooling to the ECU that obviously affected reliability in various areas. There were also problems with the spark plug orientation which affected the combustion. All told, it was very common for them to self destruct.

Since BRP took over the Evinrude brand, Post 2003 models have an updated and revised engine and management system. These are pretty good and were a major improvement over that which went previously. Trouble is, the damage has been done to the brand even though they remarked-ed them as DI (direct injection).

I run a 2004 150 DI and the only problems I've had was an oil lift pump and injector pump that were replaced at PDI when I first bought the engine due to them not working. This was a used engine when I bought it and I did find a little water in a one way valve that they left in the RIB when I collected it, so I assume it was the water that caused the malfunction in the first place. The only other problem in the 3 years of ownership was a cooling hose than came off in January due to a hose clip that failed.

I would look for a Tohatsu 115 TDI as an alternative engine if I were you. Excellent!

If you really want an evinrude then I would avoid the FICHT and go for an older carbed V4 115. They are superb motors and if well cared for will give you a good service life.

Not an evinrude but there is a Yamaha 115 on ebay Yamaha
