Rotters arent they ? .. I can recount worse .. after buying a certain excavator product over many years and consistantly having the seats break apart .. and, I'd just welded the 40th one or so and got sick of doing so .. I pointed it out to the dealer and he said .. "oh .. thats the first one I've ever heard of ?" ... Do they think we are zipped up the back ?

Similarly and also off topic, a guy on the Bramber trailer stand at Southampton Boat Show was trying his utmost to convince me that he'd never known of an Alko sealed wheel bearing failing........

Hmmmm....I went out for a run today and when I flushed the engine on muffs when I got home it sounded a little "knockey". I took the cover off and had a little poke around and found a degree of play in the main bearings......hmmm.....only 40 hours on the clock too.
Looks like another E-Tec horror may be unravelling!

Progress
Spoke with my dealer today and expressed my concerns my concerns about not being able to go boating.
I feel that he would like to get this problem sorted however with this being a manufacturing problem I will have to wait for evinrude to make a decision before I will know the final outcome.
Hopefully they will do the right thing and get my problem sorted so that I can feel confident to go boating with my family again.

No that's his problem not yours. The sale of goods act is quite clear - the dealer who sells you the engine NOT the manufacturer is responsible for the quality of the goods.

If he's giving it away I'll have it-I could swap it for a nice 115 Optimax

Yep, and then all you've got to look forward to is expensive compressor and injector replacements. Plus having an engine on the back of your boat that sounds like a tractor with a straight through exhaust.

I don't know if it'll be any help, but I came across an American forum solely for E-TECs the other day. If no-one is aware of it, is it OK to post the link on here?

Because they're all 250 e-tecs. Why would anyone consider stealing any other motor.
