Evinrude 4 stroke 70

Well this has been a very long day with a short period of actual boating. I headed out early to take pictures of the Osprey and Great Blue Herons but had to cut it short

My Evinrude died on me after idling down the inlet for about 20 minutes, then pushing up on to a plane and running at about 20-25 knots for about 10 seconds.

Motor cut out, and turning the key results in no starter, no solenoid clicks, nothing. The depth sounder and nav lights work so battery is fine. Had to get towed back.

Just got home, and I'm going through the engine manual now. I'll be headed back to the boat tomorrow with tools to see if I can figure out what's going on.

Sigh...

RIBase
Start with the basics first, such as plugs aren't fouled, the engine stop lanyard is in position and working properly, fuel tank vented, etc.

Anything else out of the ordinary? Has engine been serviced recently?

That was the problem. The plastic fixture on the end of the lanyard was chipped and when jiggled about would cut the engine off.

Thanks you guys!
