Evinrude diagnostic cable / Software

Using the searider yesterday which has a Evinrude 50 ( E50PL4SS 1999) on the back & the warning buzzer / light came on.
Turned it off & left it for 30 mins & it restarted ok so now would like to see what the service code was for this, & would like to check the engine hours anyway.

Never seen or used this feature or equipment so really dont know much about it so a few questions.....;

Will it show all the old codes / faults thats ever been on the engine ?

Read on here somewhere that someone made a cable up ??, if this is possible where could i find
the software ?
