Evinrude Etec 75

Hi, can anyone confirm that the 5 year warranty on the Etec is for parts and labour or is it 2 years parts and labour then 3 years parts only?
Cheers.

Good question. I'm glad you have posted this it's something that I have not thought of.

I hope it's the former.

It depends, if it's a recent engine with the factory 5 year warranty, then it's full parts & labour for the 5 years (non-declining). Previous to the introduction of the 5 year warranty, they came with 3 years non-declining. The changeover was around 2009. Either way, it's a "non-declining" warranty which means what you get on day one continues to the end of the warranty period.

As long as it's a genuine BRP warranty & not an aftermarket/dealer warranty, then 5 years non-declining it is. Lucky you, I only got 3 years.

Thanks for your input. I guess we need to check with the dealer. On another note, what's your experience with the injectors? Are they prone to failure and do they really cost about £600 each?

Touch wood, not had a problem. No idea regarding cost, I hope I don't have to find out.
Do I take it you've got problems?
Most of the injector failures seem to be fuel related. Early injectors had electrical problems due to manufacturing faults, but these were rectified.

Had one injector go. Part replaced under warranty but heard they are £600 each which is a worry.

What filters do you have in your fuel system?

Did they give you any indication of what caused the failure?

Yep, a filter/water separator. I don't think the issue has been fuel quality.
