Evinrude Ficht Intruder

I am looking out for some good deals for a friend of mine who is looking to upgrade next year.

I found a nice Ribcraft 585 on B&O only worrying thing is the engine a 150HP Ficht 150HP Intruder.

The engine is actually 1998 but was only fitted in 2008 so is very low hours.

I know Ficht were not great but I think they were sorted when the Ficht Ram version came out and then the Di.

I am not sure if this is a Ficht Ram model or not.

Any thoughts?

Don't touch anything earlier than about 2003ish a year or so after BRP took over I think. Anything marked as a DI is 100% better (but some wouldn't touch anything earlier than an Etec).

My advice would be to Negotiate for the boat and not the engine. Outboard's only really scrap value so £500 - £1000 MAX even with low hours 1998's an old engine anyway and anyone knowing Evinrudes FICHT history won't touch it.

2000 - 2001 Bombardier took over.

I had exectly the same engine. On my way back from the Ribex it broke down south of Brighton. A seal of the EMM came loose and water got in. A new EMM was put in, at Brighton Marina.
After a few weeks the Power Distribution Panel in the engine gave up.
So in one month time a multiple of a thousand pounds.
Never a Ficht of that era for me.

Now I have a 2004 Evinrude 250 Direct Injection from Bombardier, and I'm very pleased with it.

2003 is the year when they started to get them right.
