evinrude ficts or direct injection

I am thinking about buying a rib with twin 150 evinrudes on it. They are direct injection or ficts which I believe are the same thing just newer. Any feedback on these evinrudes would be appreciated. thanks.

Make sure they have had the fuel pump mod. This should have been done under factory recall and warrantee. If not it might get the urge to blow its self up.

I have a 200 fitch

I think after 2000 any modifications that were required were built in,,i say i think, mine is a 2000 model and all was well

two things with these engines,
1) they must have the Evinrude oil
2) Check the service records, they usually come with a detailed printout from the ECU. Before i purchased the boat i have now, i looked at another 200, but the service records showed that the engine had used the incorrect oil and the ECU was slowly getting hotter. If all looks well then it will be OK.

I have run mine for just over a year now, if you look in the gallery i do little running reports,,,all its says about the engine is "as usual the engine was fine", for me its been a good engine and goes very well, we intend to use it for many years

hope this helps
