Ex Contract Outboards
I'm still having problems with my mercury 50 Blueband and have decided to bite the bullet and buy something a bit newer,
Can anyone recomend any dealers that sell ex contract engines on the south coast or anywere near Poole?
Appolagies if this is posted in the wrong section,
Cheers
Macca

ex Contract Outboards
I've already spoken to the local dealers listed on the baruss web site and they all seem to have nothing at the moment, hence posting on here to try and gain some info on recomended dealers in Hants/ Devon etc
I should have said in my last post , idealy I'm looking for a 40 or 50 hp long shaft with eletric start, not to worried about power trim etc, the main thing I want is reliability and I'm told that Mariners are the way to go for this.
Cheers

The new 40 Mariners are the same as Mercury, the old contract engines are Yamaha“s.

Then you would not look at Force, you should look to Jap“s like Suzuki or even Tohatsu

Theres nothing wrong with Tohatsu. They are just old technology. They are good reliable engines at a good price

As far as I know Tohatsu has been on the market for long time and some years ago they made the small outboards for most other bands.
Now they have been consentrating on their own brand. I think it is worth having a talk to them or one of their dealers in the south.
Selva outboards have just entered the Icelandic market and according to my source they are doing well, giving fair performance and low maintenance/feilure under warranty at least (its their third year over here).
Personally I started with Chrysler engine (now Force) back in 1973 and moved over to Mercury in 1977 and since that I have tried most brands and types of outboard and sterndrives.

Do a search on here for Tohatsu. I think the topic has come up a few times before.
