Extra long shaft outboard on an Avon D5.6

I'm repowering my 2001 5.6 Adventurer. It currently has a long shaft Yamaha F115 on it that has imploded (2 months after I bought it, but I don't want to talk about that).

The upper exhaust port on the long shaft is ~4 inches above the waterline. Going to an XL shaft would add five more inches to that. Any reason not to do that?

Price is almost identical, weight is within 10 pounds or so.
