first impressions...
some three weeks ago we re-engined the boat with 2 *250 yams HPDI 2t.
These are very state of the art engines and here are a few facts and figures.
( compared to 2*200 yams 2t carbs 1994 vintage)
--- weight is some 95 kgs extra
----Consumption is 30 to 40% less . ( thats enormeous)
----speed is up to 60knts
----only the engines were replaced - all wiring looms and controls were
as previous
----Noise levels are down by 30% ( unfortunately)
----No fuel returns were necessary ( dont undersrand why not)
----Engine management is faultless ( these were engines that were shipped
back to yamaha for software updates).
I hesitated quite a lot over Susukis vs Yamahas - but there were two factors that swayed the decision
- the relative poor service factor of Susuki and
- The fact that the previous installation was yamaha- and all I purchased
were motors and no instruments and controls
This post is just for info purposes . Its the first time since a long while that I go out and come back with two engines working!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. However it must be said that damage had been done to the previous moteurs as they were left for 24 months without use in a salty atmophere due to the writers immobilisation
Trim tabs will be fitted shortly and will be the Nauticus MOBSTER tabs retailing FOB Florida at 230$ for a kit of two.It was consider to DYI with suitable sheet metal and standard inflatable Monroe shock absorbers-- but this would have involved a lot of trial and error.
