Ford mermaid turbo pressure !!

Hi all my pacific has the standard turbo 4 mermaid in her but on a jet, I took her out on Tuesday evening and she was pulling 2600rpm no smoke and doing 25knots, but I put her in the water yesterday and she would only pull 2100rpm and 18knots, the turbo wasn't kicking in, I can hear a whistle when I being the revs down but no whistle flat out, she spins freely and all looks ok, any ideas !!!

If it is the same as the ford sabre, there used to be a square plate with four bolts around the fuel pump area. Under it was a diaphragm operated by pressure from the intercooler. It would push down and let on fuel. They had an occasional habit of developing a hole and causing what you have. The holes can be easily fixed with superglue as a temporary repair until you get a new diaphragm. If it's not that, it will be the usual suspects. Fuel system 1st then timing if it has a cam belt. Etc

Look at the top of this fuel pump on the right hand side, the plate with four bolts will have a pipe connected to it. I've also seen a leaky intercooler allow corrosion to block the pipe at the intercooler end.Click image for larger version

I am assuming you don't have a rope on your jet.
