Fuel primer problem

Hi all me again
Just went to go and start my engine there but no matter how many times I squeeze my primer bulb it won't seem to pump any fuel. I used to squeeze it till the bulb went hard.

Anyone know what the issue is and how to sort it?
Thanks

Try a bit of heat from a hot air gun or hot water

Yes if it is nice and soft you will get a better flow and may well let the one way valve un-jamb. Just don’t go over board with the heat gun as obviously there’s Petrol around

The primer bulbs fail with age, either going hard or the diaphragm inside is goosed. Replace with genuine part or Quicksilver. You could try taking the petrol cap off the fuel tank altogether and the fuel hose at the engine end. The rubber 'o' ring at the engine end summertime s displaces. Press a nail in on the non return spring valve to see if fuel come comes out.

My Suzuki one was rubbish from day one and quickly failed. Replaced with Quicksilver which has been fine with a far more positive priming action.

Thanks to all.

Spartacus that seemed to work - poking a nail in the engine end of the fuel line. Now priming happily.

Happy to help Duggie. Could be anything, sticky valve, vacuum pressure, etc. Still worth getting a spare primer bulb. They are in expensive, but I'd replace and be done with it.
