Genuine or pattern starter motor ?

I need to replace the starter motor on my Mercury 40 hp 2 stroke engine the year is 2000
I can get a pattern starter for £150 incl VAT and delivery with 12 months warranty maybe even cheaper if i keep phoning around or a genuine one for £230 +VAT
Does anyone know if the pattern starter motors are any good or should i pay the extra and buy genuine ?

Probably made in the same factory!!! Mercury don't make starter motors - they just buy them in - same as you!!!
