Good or bad.

Can anyone tell me the rough age of this engine, are they any good, fuel consumption?, getting spares etc,
its a 100hp 2str, and it would be for my 5.5m rib.
Thanks, Gerry.

It's at least 20 years old, it might even be a late 80's engine. At WOT you will be lucky to get 5mpg, but its a 2 stroke so well worth it

fuel consumtion is approx 1/3 of hp in litres per hour at wide open throttle. That is a rough guide.

Thanks for that, at the moment with my twin 50s at wot im using 1.5 lts per nm, so should be an improvement, and my twins are manual start and tilt, so looking upgrade !, if thats the right term, would you reccomend ?.

Thanks Spartacus, ive seen that one, this is far cheaper, would you reccomend it ?

Thanks, Gerry.

If you had a s/n you could go onto the brunswick site and into the download centre and find the model year, and that is as cose as you will get, because it wont tell you when it was registered (if it was). But if I had to guess I would say about the late eighties or early ninetys

when I find her I will have to tie her feet so she cant run too fast as I would never catch her otherwise.

Update.

Thanks for all your help, I bought the engine, boat and trailer, the engine is 1989, and it runs sweet, (touch wood) the whole package has been well looked after, dry stored and hardly used, Ill be a while getting the engine on the rib, as ive other work to do to it, time will tell about the fuel consumption.

In the meantime, anybody wanna buy a wee boat called "hanky panky".

Thanks again, Gerry.
