Greasing pivot shaft

Does anyone have any tricks on how best to get grease down to the bottom bearing on Mercury ? They "cleverly" fit only one grease point near the top and pumping grease in nicely clears the old grease out through the top but I can't get it to go south !
This is on a 4 month old opti with only 38hrs on - I had this problem on my old 125 where, in its later life, I had the same problem which must have contributed to its demise - so I thought I would grease now (and every 3-4 months) hoping to keep it free flowing............ not that lucky.
Any help much appreciated ( I even tried neoprene clamped with a cable tie round the top housing)
Jeff

Are you greasing with the full weight of the outboard hanging on the saddle?
