For the timing belt has failed end engine stopped will this have bent the valves any info would be great before I remove the engine from the boat and strip it down

Google volvo XC90 it's the same engine I very much doubt it is a 'safe' engine though I'd expect valve or valve gear damage
Put a belt on & see what happens before you strip it
Just looked apparently they break the cam followers & sometimes the cam carrier caps
The cam carrier caps are the bad news as they are line bored as part of the head
Only possibility would be a used set of caps from a wrecked engine & engineers blue to scrape the bearings in manually to the cam
Either that or a new head
I think I'd pull the rocker cover & see if there was anything damaged & if not then put a belt on & try it
