Help! Parts needed for Johnson 4.5

The helix guides on the hand throttle of my 1982ish Johnson 4.5 auxilliary have given up the ghost and the cable keeps slipping out and loosing throttle control. I have found the part number (0325971) but it is superseeded (by 0436278 helix kit) but this is £89 + vat . Thats about what the engine is worth!!!!

Does anybody know where I could get cheaper or used spares, or anything that will work instead (replacement tiller perhaps)? I am considering adding a new throttle lever somewhere off of the tiller, if I cant fix what is there. As a last ditch attempt, I'm going to try to re-build the guide groves with some thin stainless strip but am not too hopeful about this.
