Just taken delivery of first ever rib. The engine is a 90hp mariner 2000 model. Should the bolt the holds the prop on have a cover over it of some sort or is it common for it to be exposed but very well greased. just wasn't sure. Also - on an engine like this I presume you use normal unleaded - do you still have to mix the oil with it or is that done automatically on big engines.
Please excuse the ignorance - always sailed a catamaran or used dad's drascombe lugger until now.
With regards the oil mix speak to the previous owner or consult the manual.
I presume by the bolt protruding on the prop then you mean the bolt that goes straight out through the prop. This will be secured with some sort of nut and a cotter pin. Then you can put grease on it. Check it has a cotter pin or it might come off at high speed and hurt someone.
Wecome to RIBNET. Any more problems post them and a picture always helps.
Bolt - normal
Fuel - mormal unleaded
oil - should be autolube on an engine that size and year, does it have an oil tank under the hood? if so its autolube, if not its premix.
hope this helps
