Help! Steering

Hi im michael from arklow sea scouts, we recently put our rib back on the water and noticed that the steering is off, it takes about six turns from centre to turn to the right and when you turn back to the left it falls back with about three turns, as i understand the hydrolics and steering have just been done and the tubes going into the steering wheel say seadog if that system makes sense to anyone, also the little knob above the wheel was messed with and the broken so... We have to use this boat for safety boat and with steering like that its not happening.
Help!!!

You say the hydraulic steering was just done; was it ever working correctly after being worked on? If not, take it back to whoever "did" them. Could be as simple as some air bubbles remaining in the steering system, or could be a stuck overpressure valve. If return to the shop is unfeasible, see if you can find the manufacturer's procedure for purging the hydraulic system of air and execute that a couple of times. Trapped air is the most likely, IMO.
