HELP, Throttle assemblage

HELP!

Just bought a new quicksilver throttle for my rib (old one disintegrating!). Went to fit it and found the engine end of the throttle cable has 14 pins and the engine has 8 pins and two wires. Engine is an old optimax 90, throttle is new!

Wrong cable/throttle or is there a special join I can get?

Damaged old throttle taking it of as the screws were completely siezed. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers, Stevie

You have the wrong control box for your engine, you have a pre 2006 engine and a control box for post 2006 engines but you can get an adaptor cable for about £30

An adaptor cable ? You mean attach a new cable to the new throttle?

If so, can i just use the existing cable fom the old throttle and attach it to the new throttle?

Thanks

Throttle Assemblage

All sorted now!

Thanks to Ian Sharlot for advice on and rapid order and dispatch of the 8 pin to 14 pin connector needed. And to Uncle Al who gave the same advice and offer of ordering within minutes.

From post of problem, to solution and part ordered, two hours. Posting time 36 hours. Fitting 2 minutes.

Outboard started 1st time! Marvellous!

Great Forum, cheers guys.
