help ultraflex

hi i have just bought a new Ultraflex B90 Outboard Single Lever Black Side Mount Remote Control Box and cables dont seem to work cables say on them quicksilver ft9 061
the engine is a mariner 40hp 6el
i was told the control would fit but need the Ultraflex K35 Connector Kit For C5 & C16 Outboard Remote Control Cables which i have fitted but not helping either so really confused do i need different cables
previously had a QuickSilver Outboard Side Mount Control Box fitted

Sounds like you maybe have a box for 33c cables but you have quicksilver cables can you post a picture of the box internals

That should all work, have you got the round trunions on the cables in the correct holes.

hi yes had them in the correct holes but were too short so couldnt be clipped so i then changed it so you have to pull instead of push which is what the photo shows , when you push the lever the rod only travels 60mm

You haven’t used the k35 kit to extend the length of the inner cable in this pic. Fit the kit and this will work.

even when i used the kit it still wouldnt work ,ther wasnt any movement
