Help with Volvo Diesel Engines

Can anyone help....

I've just bought a Fairline Targa 37, with twin KAD 44's. I'm in the process of dispensing of my life savings and kids to put the boat, engine and legs through a thorough service but I'd like to understand how to carry out routine/emergency maintenance. (from a starting point of zero knowledge)

The guys doing the work on the boat genuinely dont have the time to spare to do this in the next few months as their flat out coming into peak season

I know there's a one day diesel engine course you can do and I'm open to doing that for starters if people recommend it, but what I'd really appreciate is someone spending half a day or whatever it takes to talk me through my own engine, common problems, checks I should do and spares to carry.

Happy to pay in £'s, beer or use of boat if anyone can help out. Boat is now in Southsea Marina and I'd be looking to do this at the beginning of May if possible..
