My local boat shop sells the 4hp Hidea outboards for about half the price of the equivalent Mercury/Mariner.
The guy says they are OK. Made in China l think.

Says its cash on pick up, a lot safer and more cost effective for all concerned when not posting.

that is true, it means that you will get the engine, but you lose any kind of protection should you need to return it and the seller wont play ball. im just wary when a seller specifially states no paypal, especially if its a cheap deal

Don't know if you sell on Ebay Festinghouse but if a seller accepts Paypal for a collected item or one where the buyer arranges the carrier (as is the case here) the seller runs a massive risk of malicious or fraudulent chargeback.

It's a brilliant marketplace but the Ebay/Paypal system is massively weighed in favour of the buyer.

I think if you buy a never commissioned Chinese outboard at half the normal price from a private seller who has no selling history for over 12mths then you are already gambling it might be a near total loss if the outboard turned out to be faulty or stolen.

No protection from Paypal on vehicles or items that cant be easily posted for either buyer or seller.

As a seller you should never take Paypal and then allow personal collection, you dont stand a chance if the seller asks for a refund, you will lose the item and the money (and the fees ).

Lots of sellers dont want to take Paypal for cost reasons as well, Paypal is nearly 5% now and thats a big chunk of money on top of the 10% final value fee and any listing fee.
