Highfield sport 330 - performance?

I have got a Highfield Sport 330 with a new Suzuki df20atl outboard. With 2 persons on it, it seems sluggish. Any ideas why this could be and what should I expect to achieve on a calm lake, I think the prop is a 9 1/4 x 12.

The boat and motor weighs approx 255kg.

Any help would be gratefully received. Thanks

You need a tachometer to see what's happening at wot. Once you have established that you can work out the correct pitch.

255kg seems heavy though, is that just the boat and outboard?

I had my Suzuki DF20A on a 3.8m SIB. With 2 or 3 folks I needed to swap for a 10" pitch before the outfit felt right. Mine came with a 12" fitted and I refused that but all the dealer would swap for was an 11" and even that felt wrong.

Also we have discussed similar recently but the layout of this type of craft makes them stern heavy and not the quickest to plane.

Gosh that seems heavy. Our Brig Falcon 330 with the Suzuki DF20ATS (power tilt) weighs 199kg with 12 litres of fuel, anchor, etc. (I weighed it myself with a calibrated scale). I thought Highfields were aluminium and lighter.

Are you sure that weight is correct. I know it is a Rib but for comparison a Honwave 3.8 sib weighs 46kg

The boat seems heavy untill you look at the equipment in it, it has a lot of seating & lockers etc which all add weight its not an empty shell tiller control boat its longer & wider than the brig its being compared to. Its also rated to 30hp so a 20 is 1/3 down on power. Its sluggish because its basically under powered.
