Honda bf20

As anyone else had issues with the kill switches on these engines? We have 2 at our centre and I'm getting a little fed up of replacing the kill switches.

We replaced one half way through last season and this morning it didn't kill the engine when the helm went through his prestart checks.

They are used regularly, kept with the cords disconnected when not in use and replaced with genuine Honda spares.

Cheers,
Mark.

If you had remotes fitted to the engine did you also have a remote kill switch?

Our engines are tiller steered so the switch is on the engine. From resistance testing it is definitely a switch problem rather than the engine.

We have one and had a new kill switch under warranty last year.
How old is the engine ? They had a five year warranty (now six years)
Our dealer just handed me one for me to fit, didn't even want the old one back !
real easy to fit on the tiller steered ones.

Anyway if you replaced it halfway through last season then the part itself will still be under warranty so just chuck it back at them.
The switches like an occasional squirt of WD40 too.

Bosun, Not even thought about that! Only problem is we've two engines that are the same. We'd to work out which one was replaced.

Cheers for that.

Honda are v v good with warranty work so if you explain to your local dealer I will wager that they will just sort you out.
