Honda bf250 - any opinions?

Am now considering replacing the (rather faulty)suzy250 by another engine with same output. Saw that the last topic on honda bf250's was end 2011. Did anyone gather user type of experience with this engine in the 2012 boating season? Any input apreciated !

Its Honda's flag ship engine that is used by a lot of commercial boats and has nice touches like eco mode etc for better fuel economy and has a uk RRP of £15,249 ex VAT and your buy of £12,500.00.

Noted that, but any known flaws or guarantee items? Honda usually seems careful when introducing an engine in the market but still... Not failing /cracked bloks, faulty liners and cylinder heads (just examples) known in the year they have been available and used?

so far no but...... our commercial clients with these have not put over 2500 hours on them yet so they are still relativity new.

I think when these get a bit older will we know more about any weaknesses in the engine so we will know more in 6-9 months time.

Sorry I know that is not a lot of help but i just dont have enough data for you yet and dont want to mislead you.

They early ones had issues with the exhausts suckin in water if they were mounted low on the transom however I know this was fixed a number of years ago.

I cant imagine that the latest generation have many / any major faults as they have been around for around 15 years.
