Honda bf50 bogging when using wide throttle

Good morning folks,
It had to happen on a bank holiday weekend 😣
My 2005 Honda bf50 has started to bog when opening the throttle wide. Main symptoms are:
  • idle isn't smooth at 900 rpm
  • motor feels choked as it moves up the rpm range
  • open throttle quickly under load, motor dies, sometimes stalls but starts fine.

Has just had full 100 hour service. Strange thing is, when in neutral the motor will rev freely throughout the rpm range.

Rib was new to me last year with no problems.
I'm suspecting carbs and thinking of removal and inspection. Not done this before and reasonably mechanically minded. Should I start problem solving at the carbs and do you recommend a diy removal and clean?
As always, thanks in advance for any advice.

If this engine has a butterfly choke valve behind the airbox check it in case its stuck with the fast idle lever. Before you strip the carbs, drain the fuel bowls and check for any debris, anything there, then yes its a full carb clean. I'd also check the fuel pipe connections and the primer bulb isn't collapsing.

Chaps,
Thanks for your replies. I'm off to the boatyard now and equipped with your advice I'll start some diagnostics and report findings.
Cheers

Check breather on tank as well as bulbs. Could servicing mechanic have closed it?

Also make sure that the Carb float bowl gasket is not leaking air

Folks, quick update. Checked fuel line and bulb, all ok. Emptied fuel tank and replaced with new and went out but issues persisted - rough idle and bogs on quick acceleration and stalls.
Removed 3rd cylinder spark plug cap whilst engine was running and it made no difference but repeated on plugs 1 & 2 and motor died.
Swapped coil and lead between plug 2 & 3 and repeated exercise and same thing happened.
It feels to me like there is little fuel getting to cylinder 3 and therefore a carb issue.
I'll remove carb 3 and have a peak.
Cheers

Folks,
Took the 3rd carb apart today and cleaned all the jets. The needle jet which Honda refers to as the Jet Set has a single small hole in the middle and was clear, as was the larger hole at the top. I tried to thread a thin piece of wire through the length of the Jet Set and it would only go 3/4 of the way. Does anyone know if there should be a hole throughout its length and if so, l think I may have found the problem.
Thank you all,
Cheers

Folks, by way of an update and to assist others, I took a wire brush bristle and put it through the top of the Jet and it went through! Seems like the hole was gummed up and now i can see light all the way through the length!
Would never have known it was there.....
Now can reassemble with some confidence knowing all holes are clear.
Cheers all.
