Honda BF50 Won't Idle

Our BF50 is conking out at idle. It ticks over at at around 800/850 rpm, but conks. I've googled that the carb ports gum up.

Honda carbs have several tiny fuel passageways integrated within the carb body. the slightest bit of gum will clog one or more of these ports when the interior of the carb appears perfect. These ports are the diameter of a hair And they are nearly impossible to clear once plugged. I had to have a Honda mechanic soak the bodies in solvent for a long time to melt the gum out of the ports. I now drain the carbs and the tanks after each use.

Anyone have any experience of this issue?
