How to tell if your Outboard also charges your battery

Bit of an odd question - we are new to our RIB - is there a simple way of establishing if our outboard also charges our battery??

For reference we have a Yamaha 75 Pro

Also any recommendations on where to buy a service manual?

Thank you and apologies for yet another question - one day I hope to be able to offer information back!!!

You sometimes have a charging socket on the front of the engine, any photos?

charging

hello , Quick way too tell if your outboard is charging your battery is by putting a VOLT meter across the battery terminal WHILE THE ENGINE IS RUNNING . While the engine is running you should get between 12.4 v - 12.8 - 13v . As you gradually increase the speed @ idle of your engine your VOLTAGE on the meter will increase a few volts . It wont increase alot but it will increase and thats definetly charging your battery . Anyway if you were running your engine with the battery it has now and not had a problem starting it after using it . Its CHARGING . What ever you do DONT disconnect the battery leads off the battery while the engine is running as this will BLOW up the rectifier/ reg and even the output coils on the stator assy . Workshop manual I can get for you on a disk . cheers baz

Given that it's a Yam 75, it will do-assuming the charging system is working. See outboardtech's post for how to work that out.
