Idle screws working loose? Suzuki DT25

I'm getting my DT25 idling nicely (about 1 1/4 turns) but after a bit of use it starts to sneeze at idle, then cut out.

When I try and set it up again the screws are further out. Has anyone experienced them working loose? Do they just need replacing, or is it indicative of something else?

Do they still have the spring they sit against to keep them from moving?

If so might it be over compressed?

According to the diagrams they have springs. I haven't taken them all the way out cos I have a pretty embarrassing record of dropping fiddly bits into the engine!

If they're not expensive I'll just swap them out.

Last ones I bought... Mariner I think... were about £7 for the screw and £4 for the spring.

What I have experienced in the past is due to overtightening of the idle screw when srewing down to the "bedded" position the spring can be fully compressed and then stick in the threaded bore... so when you unscrew the 1.5 turns or whatever the spring doesn't come back out with the screw to maintain the required friction to stop it turning.

Makes sense. Just got to decide if I'm brave enough to take the springs out and clean them up without having a spare to hand. If one pings across the boatyard tomorrow's fun is cancelled!
