Ignition problem

I have no power coming from the ignition, I have 12v going to the engine but nothing returning. The engine is a DF200 Suzuki and I wondered if I was missing something obvious, I've had the cover off, there is 12v to the large 60amp fuse etc but I was not sure of which wires from there to test, I don't have a diagram and did'nt want to start tugging stuff out. A laptop with an engineer may be the way to go but thought I'd post just in case it could be something easy peasy

Thanks, I searched under "ignition problem" and got bored before I saw that one. Looks suspiciously similar. I only collect the boat last week and haven taken it naywhere, its just sat in my driveway though. It could still be corrosion of course but I was hoping it could simply be a fuse or connection somehwhere. I'll just check the connections again in the engine and if thats no good I'll ring an engineer...

As per the other thread I've checked the connector on the starboard side, its clean and corrosion free (squirted it anyway). No joy, could be laptop time.

Thanks to Mike for lots of help and advice on where my problems could lie. Not fixed it yet and have a dizzy head from being upside down staring up at spaghetti this afternoon. Can't find any additional in line fuses in my console for the ignition or kill switch so I'm accepting defeat and asking an engineer to look at the boat tomorrow.

I've tested ignition and kill switch wiring and can't find any power, I don't have a wiring diagram to work to so I'm not sure which colour to try and trace with power in the loom back form the engine. Any ideas before I put the meter on !!

update. Its almost certainly the loom under the deck. I've not taken the boat out yet (apart from a sea test). Part of me is cheesed off its gone wrong on my driveway and part of me is very pleased is went wrong on my driveway. Anyway, I think you all know how I feel. New loom on order

There is a separate white wire with an in-line 15A fuse which supplies power to the controls and gauges. The supply can be provided from either end of the loom depending upon where your battery is. This wire and fuse is the first thing I'd check. I have the official wiring diagram if you need further detail.

Thanks Keith, I was aware of the white cable and 15amp fuse (but only in the last day or so). I've found this wire and the fuse is intact, I tried changing it anyway in case the break was hard to see but still no bananna. Do you have the wiring diagram in a format you could e-mail ? PM on its way. Thanks

Check all your connectors - and under the cowl - if Suzuki still use those bullet connectors they can be a real pain until they settle down!!!

Don't know on the new 4 strokes but if you see a bullet connector anywhere just have a fiddle around with it.

I ended up soldering and heatshrinking all the ones attached to the ignition and kill switch. The ones under the cowl also play up from time to time but a quick tug on the connector will cure it.

Yep, they still use bullet connectors, inside rubber sleeves, which helps keep some of the moisture out.
