Not for the next 5 years at least
and will have to see
I have friends with 4-strokes that after 2 years started having probs with the electronics on them. As in Greece we leave our boats in the water for more than 3-4 months at the time in a year it seems that the 4-strokes are not up to that treatment so far. I'm sure that they will be OK in the years to come.
Saying this, one friend has a Suzuki 140 and it has been quite good so far. No problems but is a slow engine. We tested this one and 115 Yam 2-stroke on the same boat (Falcon 640SR) and
1. the boat got on the plane quickly with both engines 19" pitch aly prop on both same weights on ex engines of course,
2. was on the plane at about 1200 revs
3. at top end it gots 42 or 44 knots (can't remember exactly) with the Suzuki and 40 knots with the Yamaha and
4. consumption was the same with both engines.
Will stick with 2-strokes for the time being
