Impeller quick question on grease

After watching YouTube it was common to use grease on assembly ,so when assembling the impeller I put a smear of quicksilver 2-4-c grease on the rubber to ease it into housing
Just read that some grease can break down rubber , is this the case ? Should I strip and clean it off or is this grease fine ? Thanx

Factory manual for impeller replacement on mine says to "Apply a light coat of Quicksilver 2-4-C Multi-Lube on inside of water pump insert".
That's the bit inside the water pump cover that the tips of the impeller rub against.
So you're safe

Impeller is probably a synthetic rubber which would not be affected by petroleum base products.

I thought that was for the posh w&%k to celebrate getting the impeller fitted.

Apologies for lowering the tone.

Silicone grease also works for the impeller side of things.

Be very sparing if using silicone grease, just a smear. I managed to severely restrict a waterway by being over generous with it. I was using it because of the warning re spirit based grease harming rubber impellers.
In hindsight the petroleum grease would have been less problematic.
