Impeller quick question on grease

After watching YouTube it was common to use grease on assembly ,so when assembling the impeller I put a smear of quicksilver 2-4-c grease on the rubber to ease it into housing
Just read that some grease can break down rubber , is this the case ? Should I strip and clean it off or is this grease fine ? Thanx

Silicone grease may be the lubricant to use.

What you have done will be fine - most will be washed away and it's mostly just to bed the thing in. I've never noticed any degradation over time and as you know realise, it's a good plan to drop the leg every other season at least and swap out the impeller!

You are right, some greases do break down some rubbers, it’s a big debate in the automotive world with caliper lubricant and slider boots. But as said it’ll all get washed away very quickly.
