Ireland's Stolen Outboards!!!

Hi guys,
Just a quick note to everyone on this side of the pond.
Just under two weeks ago a bunch of Wan**rs broke into my yard at 3am and lifted off four engines BY HAND.
Nothing to strange there but the lightest of these engines was 180kg up to 250kg.
Anyways a neighbour of mine came across them by chance and scared them off.
We got all the engines, thank god, but three other yards around the country have been hit in the last two weeks and the cops are totally useless.
It seems to be the same gang all the time, large bolt cutters for the cables and a gun of some kind just to undo the bolts, nice and neat!
My point being, please make sure your outboards are well out of sight, and if you don't have any outboard lock of some kind your insurance will not pay up.
I know this is a common problem but please be careful out there.

Hey there Rory.. Cheers for the heads up...will deffo be keeping the boat under guard over here..any details on the transport used at all or any details? Had a few pikers snooping here a while back but I don't think they got a look at the boat, it's well hidden.. But I do have the automatic machine gun turret on standby!!!

Thanx Rory - just to justify your post (as if it really needs it) you have prompted me to buy a McGard anti theft device. I hadn't got this on my list of things to do until I read your post.

Hope the Gards catch up with 'em! Thievin gits!

Good points made in the link by DJS, just to answer piranha580 they had a merc sprinter van and had been camping out in an old people carrier both of witch are now in the cop shop, but really any thing bigger than a berlingo van would fit 3-4 motors.
Oh and if anyone is reading this and thinking of having a go at my yard again, well new gates are on the way, more flood lights are up and 6 new camera's so that I get a good look at you.

Cracking van , nothing to do with me though sham!

Glad to hear it wasn't a total loss - must have cost a fortune however, all considered. Pain in the arse too, especially if clients were involved....
