Iron filings

I understand that it is not unusual to find some iron filings on the magnet when doing a gear oil change, but what is an acceptable amount?

Your thoughts appreciated.

You might want to elaborate on the engine, any emulsification of the gear oil, any vibration when underway?

A few flakes isnt unusual but shouldnt be much if its looking like a well fed hedgehog your in trouble
