Mariner 20 model number?

Need some help please

I am helping my sons sea scout group and have taken on this engine as a project for them to get the engine running, I understand a few people have already been tinkering with it.

Going to start with the basics

Firstly i need to identify the model type, it says Twenty (as the word) on the engine cover, not sure if this is related to an era?

Second I need to find a good parts supplier, the power head bolts are loose and from what I understand the gasket has failed.

I will have a better look at it this weekend, any advice on this engine would be appreciated

Thanks for looking

Found it!

Thanks for the information

I now have the serial number and can now do some digging, who are the best people to talk with.

For my old Tohatsu I used fair weather marine and they were great and for Suzuki I use aquatec who are also great, but for mariner/ mercury I am stumped.

Can any members recommend a good parts specialist

Thanks for reading

Yours could be either a 20 or a 25hp as they are similar, about 1990/91 as per the brunswick web site, I would run them on a 50;1 mix they will run ok. Fiarweather marine (Lee) any merc/mar dealer
