Mariner 30 - Cooling water

Yam-based Mariner 30.

Putting the flushing muffs on the the engine today I noticed three jets of water from the lower unit, as per the photo (engine not running). I hadn't noticed this before and, having re-fitted the lower-unit this week, wasn't sure if this was supposed to happen or water was getting into the exhaust somehow.

Is this normal?

Mine has 1 jet that comes out the front similar to yours.

Always has done but it pumps water great and seems to have no effect.

I have never been able to stop it but not tried very seriously.

the only thing you could maybe do is drop the leg down and check for corrosion on both the leg and the engine where they join.
just incase.

I posted a pic of my F115 on the hose connection a few years ago; water comes out about 6 places - the hub, telltale, each water intake screen (runs out, but not with any force), and about 3 or 4 other vents/openings in various places up the leg.

I replaced the impeller for someone on a second hand engine Whilst i had the water pump i bits i cleaned & poked out all the sludge / silt sand & grit from the lower leg that must have been there years ,when we restarted there was about 3 holes that let water out that didn't before .
