Mariner 4 stroke 4HP No water output

Hi Guys, my wee tender engine aint too healthy, put it in for servicing last year due to poor coolant flow, just tested it, and whilst its been serviced ok, new anodes, plugs, grease etc, still no water output. I hauled the leg off, and checked the impellor, everything looks fine. Dealer rekons all was fine when he serviced it any ideas where to look next ? Is this engine guilty of this type of fault ?

Sorted, shoved a pin up its bum, the outlet must have got blocked with corrossion, it looks far to small to me, nothing was visible from the outside, but I think it a bad design fault, anyone else found this ?

I had a merc 60 a while back, it got to the point where I was only getting a dribble, I changed the impellor still a dribble, I poked a bit of wire up the tell tale and got a good strong stream. Bits of crap must just get sucked into the system.

Had similar problems with my Merc 4 (pretty much the same engine although I think Merc is made by Tohatsu). The tell tale periodically seems to get blocked. I ended up using an old bic pen (fitted perfectly over the telltale hose) attached to a garden hose to blast out the junk and get the water moving again. Sometimes a bit of wire rammed up the pipe worked OK but other times it seemed to need the water treatment.

I also discovered that if I ran the O/B in a bin, it quite often sucked exhaust rather than water into the water inlet so there was in fact no water going in! Worth checking if you're running it in a bucket or bin.

tell tale

If you can, stick an air line up it, 95% of the time solves the problem.
