Mariner 40 hp 2 stroke control,box issue

I have a 1987 a Mariner 40 hp two stroke with oil injection that I got as a package deal with the boat that needed work the motor started but smokes really bad. But previous owner had premixed 51 oil in the fuel in addition to having the oil injection system still running I emptied the tank and change plugs drained the carbs and deep gummed them in emptied the oil tank cleaned it change the filter change the fuel lines cause they appear to be really small and dry rot it. The motor would start and run but was still smoking and a an incredible amount. In the meantime I noticed I was having problems with the controller. Which is a quick silver,. The wiring in the control box has all been cut so the Killswitch is non-functional and the ignition switch has been moved to the dashboard on the boat both either one of which I am fond of and want to restore them to the way they’re supposed to be in addition the throttle quadrant is very hard to open and close the throttle almost becoming A two handed operation.
So I decided that I would just buy a new control box and new control wires just be starting in a good place the first set of controls I was I bought was told that I need to buy a Yamaha set of controls because the mariner set quickset that’s on there is a seven pin in. Or however the seven pin connector that came on the Yamaha controller box that I bought is a complete different type than what is on the mariner it will not lineup in addition this boat has adjusting barrels on the throttle and control cable for the shift lever so the Yamaha style boxwill with the cables that are on the boat
I have searched high and low for a quick silver or mercury control box with a seven pin connector and cannot find one anywhere. Can anyone tell me where I can get a compatible box for this mariner 1987 Mariner 40 hp two-stroke motor
All the mercurcy has is 8pin no 7, also,I need a need hood for it as is one look.like rough as the fire glass, trashed,.

Thanks

The old oil injection Mercs do smoke.
Mine's the 135hp V6. Esp on start-up from cold but not excessively on normal running with the prop immersed. If run on muffs then you will see a fair amount of smoke.

Disabling the injection is a common thing & then running it on a 50:1 premix but if both yours were operational I'm not surprised it generates a smoke screen.

As for the controls you have I would suggest you post some photos which might help identify what you've got.
This link might help as to which cables you have:
