Mariner 40 squeky tilt tube

Hi has anyone come a cross this before the noise is horrible it's coming from the pivot point on the top tube by the steering when you trim up and down is there bushes to replace ??

I would just sqirt some thin oil (wd40?) and work the steering untill the sqeak stops.If there is no grease nipples.If there is excessive movement in the bushs they may need replacing and lubricating.

Hi yeah tried that but no change, and forgot to say its a 2003 2stroke !!

What type of grease have you been using in the tilt tube?
I had an issue like this with a mariner 40. It was difficult to move up or down and creaked badly.
Turned out to be solidified grease in the tilt tube. Got heat onto the outside of the tube and melted the old grease, degreased the tilt tube and re-greased with a marine lithium based grease.

Sounds like a plan, I've only just bought it but there is horrible looking grease everywhere, so perhaps I should start fresh
