Mariner 40hp age

Hi
I have a suspected 1990's mariner 40hp single carb, black outboard leg and silver hood with some red flashing around the mariner decals which are a font with rounded corners of the letters.

Cant find a serial no plate on it but there is a number on the engine block just to the left of the lower spark plug it reads

890-821358 C2


Also there is a barcode sticker on the port side of the engine block which reads

7041203HB

Can anyone use any of these numbers to find the year of it?

The model number on the bar code is a 1999 manufactured engine

just wondering how you know that?

so the no starting 890 on the engine block doesnt relate to anything? it just looks like a serial no.
