Mariner 40hp year 2000 msl . manual start opo75641
Hi all. I'm new to the site and hope to enjoy my time here.
I recently purchased a zodiac futura mk11c 3.8 with all new seams and transom repaired professionally . with mariner 40hp 2 stroke .I cannot find any site that can help with spare parts I'm looking for this rope rest but to no avail. As its cracked and perished.
The motor is in good condition and I hope to adapt it into a electric start in the near future.
I can't find a manual for this either and wondering if anybody could help.
Thank you.
Keith

TBH for that part I'd make a quick call / visit to your local dealer with model, serial number and a photo should get you that part. If nobody local to you then Bill Higham marine, Cambridge Outboards or Bembridge marine would be good places to start.
There are Mariner parts diagrams on www.crowleymarine.com but that's a US site so probably not economic to order a fairly cheap part. I'm not aware of a UK site with parts diagrams etc for Mariner but you can always pull the part number from Crowley and Google it.
Someone with a better knowledge of Mariner online UK parts retailers may be along shortly.......

Thank you very much for your input.
I had a quote from a mariner premises and was quoted almost £190 .
When I picked myself up from the floor I could not believe it.
I will try your suggestions and see where it takes me.
Thank you.
I'm also looking for a breakback trailer.
Do you think bunk is best .but they seem to high when launching.
Or do you think rollers are OK or not.
I saw the swing type that looks great but not sure about the rollers. !

I have the same boat from 1986 that’s in a loft gathering dust on the west coast. That was paired with a Yamaha 25 (model 25D), since sold. I know the transom is rated for 40hp, so you’re on the maximum weight and power limit for what is actually a very light boat. Does it have the aluminium HD floor? It’s great two-up, but twitchy on your own. With 40hp, if you’re venturing out yourself, get a couple of bags of sand up front for ballast.
I think the boat would be fine on bunks, especially if tubes and keel tube are always maintained at inflated to pressure. You might want to consider a transom saver (mostly seen in the US) that supports the outboard leg while the boat is being trailered if you’re travelling far, considering the state of the roads.

Keep it there great boats I think Hooe the mice don't get in there haha.
I had one before and used to take it to port grimauld south of France. Totally loved it. I just made it up on the beach and screwed an anchor point into the sand under water.
But this mariner is hefty and I can only just manage to lift it off the floor about 2 inches. I'm getting on a bit now.
I put it on a sack barrow that's really good.
Yes it's an ally floor.
I'm missing the floor board bags and boat bag but I'm currently seeking them .Next on the list is the trailer but the bunks seem really high up.

Keith, at £190 UK price, might well be worth ordering from Crowley. I order a lot of Evinrude parts from them - even with carriage, import charges etc works out much cheaper than UK dealers and often quicker too!

I tried to order it from Crawley but it would not let me proceed because it said I need a USA zip code I tried to bypass it to no avail.
Do I need to phone them directly!

Yes definitely give them a call or email - they're usually very responsive.
Some dealers are unable to shop certain parts outside the USA. They're happy to ship Evinrude but mercury / mariner may be different.
Other source might be one of the dealers mentioned for a used part

Keith,
I used to get loads of bits for engines much older than yours at David Anderson Marine in Newport-on-Tay (Over the bridge from Dundee)
He used to have a shed full of dead engines breaking for spares, although I believe he may have cleared it now. Worth a call tho'
(I have No association other than as a happy customer)

Well I managed to get one .from the uk.
But it was still not cheap at £70.
A rip off if you ask me
I'm now searching for a rope pull but don't find what mm it is I've seen 4mm on amazon but I can't identify what is the real thing for this engine
