Mariner 60efi 4 stroke Hesitates

I had a cooling problem fixed under warranty, since getting it back from the dealer the motor hesitates badly when coming off the throttle hard then throttling up again. No good at all in rough conditions!! It runs well at constant RPM and the pick up is ok in the upper rev range.

The dealer is unable to create the fault when loading it up on their Dyno, no problems reported on the ECU diagnostics however the fault happens in the real world.

I have tried a new tank of fuel and fuel line and checked for anything obvious. The engine was so smooth before.

I will phone Barrus on tuesday to find out if they are willing to help resolve this issue.

Can you recommend a good Merc / Mariner dealer? I am willing to travel.

Thanks

I'd drop an email to Andy at The Bosun's Mate

Richard,
I will wait until I contact Barrus before calling Andy. I am going to ask the local dealer to test the boat with me on the water as well.

I can see your point, but in your shoes I'd drop him an email anyway - he's very helpful, but very busy!

Good luck with finding the solution!

At last all is OK now. A sticking plunger in the fuel pump was reported to be the cause. I took the Rib out yesterday and it is running very smooth.

After 6 weeks of back and forth from the dealer I hope to have some trouble free cruises!!
