Mariner 75 Trim woes

Hi

I have a 2 Stroke Mariner 75 on my wee Rib that I lent to my brother in law while on hols. All went well till the trim decided to go up of its own accord - I think cos the engine trim switch shorted out. to get back to shore he ran for about 15 mins with his finger on the trim down buton thus running both solenoids at once I presume.

As I was away he took it to a local chap I trust and he says the motor is burned out or at least bits of it are. I will check in with him this week.

So it looks like I need a new motor and/or spares for it. plus the relief screw and anything that might be behind it? edit - just pulled the motor off and it was full of seawater and totally melted! Definately need a motor!

They also screwed the manual release in to allow it to be manually tilted. Upon launching he noticed the screw had fallen out! I presume letting salt water into bits it should not be in. Any thoughts on how serious this could be? as the motor has not been run salt water penetration may be minimal. I have been offered a new preplacement of a Ribnet member at a good price but don't want to go down that route till I absolutely must.

So any advice or offers of parts or pointers to reasonably priced parts would be most appreciated!
