Mariner F100, views on this Eng.

Looking at a RIB thats up for sale, its got a Mariner F100 on the back, any one with views on these engines, good ,bad , or indifferent.

Long time since I played with an outboard, and that was an "Old" volvo penta, carbed ,45.

Any views welcome. cheers.

Hi

there is nothing wrong with it at all, and depending on the condition it would not put me off if it was in good nick and I liked the rib.

i have one, what age is it and how many hours are on it? one thing i would personaly factor in is the second you buy it get it serviced inc a timing belt, cheap peace of mind. i think Cameron charged me about £350 for a service/timing belt change. it didn't need replacing to look at it (3 year old engine with 155 hours) but i still went ahead.

as with anything, servicing is the key and how well it has been looked after.

cheers

There's one on a ribcraft 545 I use quite a bit. It's quiet, pulls well, smooth and reliable. Nice motor.
