Mariner Help Please
Guys
My friend has just bought a Engine from Ebay.
On arrival he unpacked it, and tried to start it.
We made sure it was in Neutral, On start mode, fuel on.
Nothing, still after 25 Pulls.
What could this be? Its was shown working on Ebay.
It has been transported on its correct side.
I am bamboozzleed????????

Take the spark plug out and clean it-it's likely some crud has got on them if it's been bounced around. Might be crud stuck in a mainjet as well.

If it's in start position and the choke is on, it might be flooded.

Also whilst you have the plugs out check for a spark.

My arm feels like its gonna fall off.
Will try the plugs first.
Would a service at a dealer be recommended?
How much are they?

The plugs should be wet with fuel after all that pulling, if not suspect a fueling issue, if wet dry out check for a spark, replace, it should start.

Take out the plug. Remove the fuel line. Pull (over and over) and get whatever oil has gone places it doesn't belong out of the cylinder. Install clean spark plug, refill with correct oil, connect fuel line. Then try.
Its only supposed to be transported "right side up" and someone turned it over or something like that. Unless the seller was smart enough to drain the oil before shipping.

fuel tap could be switched to wrong setting ,play around with the choke out and in check you have fuel by the fuel filter going into the casing. got fuel check for spark
use an ht tester over the spark plug to check for spark got a spark then remove plug and check the gaps with a gauge you could check for a spark on the plug too but you will have to earth it.. you should be able to smell petrol at this stage too
all the above failed ? hit it with a hammer swallow your pride and pay £80 for a service

Is there an air vent screw on the fuel tank thats closed.
If in doubt remove a spark plug and put a few drops of fuel into the cylinder , replace the plug & connect the ht lead & try start .

Guys still have the problem but this happened today.
I disconnected the Fuel Pipe, Just to make sure there was no blockage.
To my surprise water came out for about 10 seconds, then after that Fuel.
Any idea's guys?

Ummm in light of this, isn't it rather obvious? Drain fuel from tank and carb. Start over with fresh fuel...

The carb bowl usually unscrews, although there might be a drain which is a slightly easier way to remove any water. Do you have a manual to check?
Fuel is not supposed to have any water at all in it all - typically outboards have water seperating filters to remove any which gets in. But small outboards like a 6hp often don't bother with those extra filters.
Odd that it worked online (supposedly) but somehow has water in it now. Where did the fuel come from?
