Mariner outboard

Am going to look at this this afternoon.
Are they any good?
Is it worth the asking price?
Any one know how much they weigh roughly?
It's a 1986.
Hope someone can help.
Thanks

I used to have the 9.9 version of that engine manufactured around the same year, very good engine, I'd guess that would weigh around 60kg and at that price I'd consider it a bargain

I bought a Yamaha 25hp 2 stroke yesterday, 2003 model and that's 52kg
I was guessing this might be slightly heavier as its older....?

I would've thought that was a lot of money for something that was over 25 years old?

re any good: as long as you have a back up engine which you will need anyway for being on the sea, due the usual checks and take a punt. As has been said many times on here engines are about how well they have been kept. Not just how old they are.

looks clean for its age, but i would say it was too old for the money.
you looking at hanging it off your prowave

Well that was the plan!
Decided against it now due to the weight and the boat is only rated for a 20.

The hunt for a new OB continues.

nice engine that.

I assume as the 10-15hp are the same block the 20-25hp would also be the same.
But i am finding the 15hp Yamaha is about as big as i would want to carry about.

Thought About a 15 but not sure if I would still want a bit more power.
The 9.9 I've got at the moment is defiantly not gutsy enough.
